Arel College Students Raise Awareness about the Effects of Unconscious Consumption on Individuals and Society News

Towards the end of the IB-PYP programme, 4th grade students are expected to determine the main idea of the last questioning unit, deepen the questioning by working collectively and after extensive research come up with a product that will help serve the society.

This year, the main idea of the questioning unit was determined as “the effects of unconscious consumption on individuals and society”. As part of an activity conducted under the supervision of their advisors, the 4th grade students collected evidence after the breakfast to show the amount of the food wasted on a daily basis in Arel College. The evidence collected encouraged the students of Arel College to make a change related to the issue.

After electing team leaders, 4th grade students divided the leftovers into groups. They calculated the quantity of these leftovers and took notes. The monthly and yearly totals were calculated and compiled in a report.

The students will share their findings with the school community once they complete their studies.
