Clubs

Designed to meet the unique academic, artistic, social, and athletic needs of the students; the activities program of AREL Schools plays an integral part in the total school environment and promotes a sense of community. Students learn to establish priorities, make difficult choices, and fulfil personal commitments while pursuing specific academic goals, receiving guidance, developing leadership skills, and learning stress-reducing strategies and ways of managing leisure time.

There is a variety of approved extracurricular activities available for students with all different kinds of interests. The list is extensive and varied, including ENGLISH-GERMAN DRAMA, ENGLISH REMEDIAL CLUB, ENGLISH SCRABBLE CLUB, ENGLISH JOURNALISM CLUB, HISTORY CLUB, ENVIRONMENT AND ANIMAL CARE CLUB, SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY CLUB, SCIENCE PROJECT CLUB, MATH CLUB, CHESS CLUB, COMPUTER-PROGRAMING CLUB, THEATRE CLUB, MODERN DANCE CLUB, BALLET CLUB, VOLLEYBALL CLUB, SWIMMING CLUB, BASKETBALL CLUB, BADMINTON CLUB, ART CLUB, ORGAN CLUB, ORFF-CHORAL MUSIC CLUB, ORCHESTRA CLUB, FOLK DANCE CLUB, BALLROOM DANCE CLUB, SBS PREPARATION CLUB, PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB, DEBATE CLUB, GYMNASTICS CLUB, ATATURK’S THOUGHTS CLUB, INTERNATIONAL KIDS CLUB, RHYTHM CLUB.

The extracurricular activities program ranges from academic clubs to social events. Activities for parents and teachers are also organized. A number of academically orientated extracurricular activities are available, including curriculum-related fieldwork and field trips both in Istanbul and in other cities. Students may also participate in science fairs, competitions, speech and debate tournaments of the Ministry of Education and other schools.

The traditional activities taking place in our Schools each year are Book Festival, High School Poetry Competition, Active Experiment Competition, Preschools Festival, Inventions & Inventors Day, Dance Competition, Photography Competition, Sports Festival, Quiz Shows, English Fun Days, End of the Year Festival, Fine Arts Exhibition, and “Rice" Day for the Graduates.

Sports play an important role in the lives of AREL students. Competitive games and tournaments are arranged with other schools. A wide range of visual and performing arts activities for students in all grades complements the curricular offerings. Instrumentalists are encouraged to join the school choir and perform at school assemblies. There are several drama productions in the form of plays and musicals throughout the school year. Students interested in the visual arts may join one of the art/handicrafts clubs.
